Occupational Therapist and Senior Occupational Therapist– Disability Enablement Service

The London Borough of Waltham Forest, Disability Enablement Service (DES) is a multi-agency service collocated with health the service aims to provide integrated services for all children and young people aged 0-25 years with a special educational need and/or disability (SEND) that are eligible for an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).

The Disability Enablement service will bring together key areas of service provision from education health and social care to proactively promote inclusion and improve the support available to children, young adults and their families. 

The DES has a strong focus on improving outcomes to enable children and young adults to fulfil their potential for achieving their aspirations and improve choice and independence; education, training and employment; health and wellbeing; individual and family resilience; securing quality and timeliness of advice, support and intervention.

Waltham Forest’s ambition is that the service to children and young people will embrace personalisation reducing the need for multiple assessments, and providing a multi-skilled workforce that will work in an integrated approach to provide a joined up, quality service that is responsive and flexible.

We are seeking to recruit both an Occupational Therapist and a Senior Occupational therapist to:

  • Manage and maintain a caseload, involving high levels of assessment skills and knowledge including legislation, therapeutic, technical and social interventions and inter departmental/ multi-disciplinary approach.
  • Demonstrate excellence in case management and securing positive outcomes and resolutions for children and young adults.
  • Have a strong person centred approach to working with families.
  • Have excellent partnership skills.
