Vacancy Description

Intelligence Officer

Right now there is a buzz about Waltham Forest. Bursting with culture, energy and opportunity, it is a place people want to live, raise a family and start a business.

It is an exciting time to join Waltham Forest, the first London Borough of Culture for 2019.  The Council is currently entering a period of extensive investment programme of its assets, including masterplan for its historic Town Hall, introduction of house building, and a number of regeneration programmes across the borough.

About the role

You will be joining a lively and dynamic team of fraud investigators and be responsible for the efficient and effective coordination of intelligence gathering, assisting with the production of risk assessments and data analysis and helping with the successful delivery the proactive plan.  You will work individually or as part of a team with Senior Investigation Officer and Manager support.

On a day to day basis, you will work with a range of internal staff to develop and maintain effective working relations.  As part of supporting the corporate anti-fraud team function, you will provide clear and concise written records of your work and write comprehensive intelligence reports for referral and planning work actions.

An eye for detail, problem solving skills and being able to effectively analyse information will be key to this role.

Your ability to effectively manage your time working on a number and range of projects will be essential to meet deadlines whilst understanding the needs, timescales and deadlines of others.

With supervision and support, you will be able to help to deliver a professional and flexible anti-fraud service through the supervised provision of fraud awareness training, support and guidance, and the development of effective policies and proactive projects, to prevent, detect and investigate potential fraud and irregularities perpetrated against the Council.

Who will you be?

You’ll have a professional outlook and presence, along with experience in delivering projects in a fast paced, customer focused environment.  You’ll have a basic understanding of criminal investigations, managing material obtained and relevant legislation.

If you have any questions about this role, please contact Kevin Campbell-Scott on 020 8496 4487 or kevin.campbell-scott@walthamforest.gov.uk.
